"Unique stories of lesser-known heroes.... informative and well-crafted."

(Knox Press, 2016. Reprint: Friends of Washington Crossing Park, 2025. ISBN 978-0-9980593-0-3) The victories achieved by the American cause from December 25, 1776 to January 3, 1777 in the war for independence from Great Britain were the product of bold and imaginative leadership on the part of George Washington and his fellow generals, miscalculation by the enemy, and the fortuitous effects of weather as it related to the movement of troops and battlefield conditions. But those storied triumphs were also due to the heroic feats of people less well known to history who remain the “unsung heroes” behind our nation’s struggle for independence during its darkest days. This book offers a concise but detailed account of a critical moment in our national saga by focusing on the exploits of several obscure individuals and their importance to the momentous events that altered the course of the conflict. These nine men and one woman distinguished themselves in the service of what George Washington famously termed “the glorious cause,” and they receive due recognition in this "well-crafted" recounting of their contributions to the Revolutionary enterprise.
